Decades ago, my aunt found this gem in the LA Times. We simply call it “LA Times Spaghetti” and it’s been a family favorite ever since!
Ingredients for 4 people π:
π bread
π₯© ground beef – 200g
π ground pork – 200g
π§ water – 1 cup
π§ salt – 1 tsp
π§ parmesan cheese – 1/4 cup
π§ garlic – 2 cloves
π« oil – 2 tbsp

tomatoes – 2 medium

onion – 1 small
πΏ basil – 1/4 cup
πΆοΈ crushed red pepper flakes – 1/2 tsp
πΏ oregano – 1 tsp
π thin spaghetti – 200g
Steps π₯:
π – Cook and drain pasta
π – Set aside
π – Soak bread in 1 cup water
π – Press out as much water as possible and mash smooth
π – Mix bread with beef, pork, salt, garlic, and 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese
π – Shape into small balls and brown in oil in saucepan
π – Remove from pan and set aside
π – Add tomatoes, water, onion, basil, oregano, and crushed pepper to the saucepan
π – Simmer uncovered for 30 minutes
π – Mix sauce and meatballs lightly with cooked spaghetti
π – Transfer the entire mixture into a greased, 3-quart casserole dish
π – Sprinkle with remaining parmesan cheese on top
π – Cover and bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes
